"Mr. Maner is a very good lawyer. My son was court appointed to him on some very bad charges. Mr. Maner went above and beyond to defend my son, he made sure that he did a full investigation on my sons case. I could not ask for a better lawyer. Mr. Maner is honest and to the point and someone you can trust. Thank you Mr. Maner for you hard work and dedication..." --Desirae Bargas
Thank you Desirae for the kind words. I think that we got an excellent result in a very challenging case with an aggressive prosecutor who, at one point was attempting to lock up your son for an extended amount of time. I'm happy that he is free and doing well. Best of luck to both of you. -- Doug Maner
Douglas D. Maner is a Stanislaus County criminal defense attorney and has been a California State Bar Certified Criminal Law Specialist since 2004. He represents men, women, and juveniles accused of crimes throughout the Central Valley and Sonora,
in Stanislaus, Merced and San Joaquin Counties.
Having served as a Senior Deputy District Attorney for over 20 years and an Attorney for 33, Doug Maner knows exactly what it takes to build the best possible defense to protect your freedom.
He regularly defends people accused of complex cases with significant prison exposure such as white collar, gang related matters, and homicide charges and three-strikes cases. He also handles DUIs and Probation Violation cases.
Doug is death penalty qualified and is currently on the special circumstances/death penalty panel of attorneys who are appointed to the most serious murder cases by the Stanislaus County Superior Court.
Doug's expertise includes juvenile law delinquency cases. He was the first attorney in Stanislaus County to be approved by the Stanislaus County Superior Court to represent minors in juvenile court pursuant to California Rules of Court, rule 5.664. Juvenile court is vastly different than adult court and requires additional skills, knowledge and patience. Doug has handled many transfer hearings where minors are determined by the court fit to remain in juvenile court for prosecution, or remanded to adult court where the consequences are infinitely more severe.
Doug has recently been selected to become
a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100
and America‘s Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Doug Maner's Manifesto
What does this mean to you?
The Presumption of innocence means that the Government is required to prove each element of the crime they allege against you beyond a reasonable doubt. Until this occurs, you must be considered 100% innocent.
It means that once the Government has arrested you and charged you with a crime,
it has to build a case against you that is so strong that no reasonable doubt can exist regarding your guilt. Your rights during the investigation and prosecution of your case must not be violated.
As Defense Counsel, one of our primary duties to you is to protect your rights and exclude the evidence against you if your rights are violated. We will thoroughly investigate your case, and establish a reasonable doubt, if at all possible.
Often the District Attorney files charges they cannot prove, or turns a blind eye to law enforcements' violation of your rights. The only way to convince a Judge or Jury of this is through an exhaustive investigation of the Government's case and an intense evaluation of the law relevant to your case by an expert in criminal law.
Doug Maner served a Senior Deputy District Attorney for twenty two years and has expert knowledge of the inner workings of the District Attorneys office. As Senior Deputy District Attorney, he built thousands of cases for the D.A., and knows exactly what it takes to tear them apart.
Your freedom is the most important thing you have. You owe it to yourself and your family to have the best possible defense, and the most experienced lawyer defending you.
